Saturday June 11th., 2011 is the next chapter meeting at Williams Collection Library at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. 10:00 A.M. - Board Meeting 11:00 A.M. - Membership Meeting
The next Meeting of the Alabama Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association will be at the Williams Collection Library at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. This library is on the 3rd floor of the Gorgas Library, located on the University of Alabama Quad. Parking on that Saturday will be available in front of the library or in the outlying parking lots. We have been warned that due to the student academic calendar, that day might be a heavy traffic day for the library. Parking might be limited directly in front. This should give direct information on getting to the building. The interim curator, Nancy Dupree, will give a presentation at the 11:00 hour including information about the collection, how it came to be, and what is included in the collection. She can field questions and answers from there. The Williams Collection is a closed-stack collection. Research requests are by appointment only (for the most part). 1829 to 1846, encompassing the period of the forced Removal of
the Cherokee, Muscogee,
Chickasaw
and Choctaw to the west.
